BIOGRAPHY & REPERTORY

Giorgio Lamberti was born in Adria, Italy, on July 9th 1938. He spent his youth in Bolzano and attended
the commercial school there.

Parallel to his accounting studies, he studied violin and opera at the Claudio Monteverdi Conservatory
in Bolzano.

In 1959, he received an exemption from military duty to continue his studies at the San Pietro Music
Academy in Majella of Napoli.

In 1963, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Fenice of Venice where he was taught by Mr Sbiza,
and had fellow classmates like Maria Chiara and Silvano Carroli, among others.

He followed advanced classes with Ettore Campogalliani who also taught Mirella Freni and Luciano Pavarotti.

His debut took place in Rome in 1964 in the role of Arrigo in I Vespri Siciliani. The following year was rich
in performances since he was Radamès, during the Chicago representations of the very famous opera Aida
by Verdi, Don José (Carmen) in Baltimore and Manrico (Il Trovatore) in Cairo.

But it is in 1970 that his career sky rocketed when he successfully replaced Franco Corelli who refused
to interpret the role of Don José during the representation of Carmen at the Verona Arenas.

Thanks to his great vocal extension, from D flat to la low, Giorgio Lamberti interpreted lyrical pieces which
require an exceptional control of the singing techniques. This gift enabled him to have a larger repertory
than the majority of the tenors.

In June 1996, he decided to end his career after his performance in Samson and Dalila at the Staatsoper
in Zurich.

His repertory comprises more than 80 operas :
